In December 2003, Bayer Polymers used Bayhyd XP 2427 hardener, a Bayhydrol XP 2427 cement, in coloring water-based two-component polyurethane wood coatings to meet or exceed the performance of solvent systems. Due to the lack of chemical resistance and mechanical strength of this forest paint, it has not yet been marketed.
