pHS-4C + Acidity Meter Operation Rules

1. Preparation:
1. Insert the 9V DC power supply into the 220V AC power supply, and insert the DC output plug into the "DC9V" power jack on the rear panel of the instrument. Install the electrode on the electrode holder, remove the short-circuit plug on the electrode socket of the instrument, and insert the electrode plug.
2. Press the power "switch" button, turn on the power, and preheat for about 5 minutes.
2. Calibration:
The calibration of the instrument can be divided into conventional method (one-point calibration-for rough measurement) and precision method (two-point or three-point calibration-for precision measurement). The user can select one of them for calibration according to the situation.
1. Prepare three buffer solutions of pH4.00, pH6.86 and pH9.18.
2. Press the MODE key to put the instrument in the pH measurement mode (the “pH” light on the display is on at this time), and press the “∧” or “∨” key to adjust the temperature display to the temperature value of the standard buffer. If using the automatic temperature compensation function, insert the temperature sensor plug into the "ATC" hole on the rear panel of the instrument. At this time, the "ATC" light on the display is on, and the "∧" and "∨" keys are disabled.
3. Rinse the electrode (and temperature sensor probe) with distilled water and dry it with filter paper or spin dry, and then immerse it in a standard buffer solution with a known pH value (the choice of this buffer solution should be close to the measured solution pH value ). Shake the beaker or stir the solution to make the bulb in front of the electrode evenly contact with the standard buffer.
4. Press the CAL key, the "CAL" and "AUTO" lights flash on the display, and the instrument is automatically recognizing the pH value of the standard buffer; when the measurement end point is reached, the screen displays the standard pH value of the corresponding standard buffer , The corresponding standard buffer indicator light is on; the "CAL" light goes out and the "AUTO" light stops blinking. At this point the calibration ends.
5. On the basis of one-point calibration, select the second standard buffer, and then follow the above one-point calibration method. At this time, the corresponding standard buffer indicator lights. The electrode performance indicator shows the performance of the electrode. At this point, the two-point calibration ends.
6. On the basis of two-point calibration, select the third standard buffer solution, and follow the above-mentioned one-point calibration method again. At this time, the standard buffer indicators "4", "7", and "9" are all on. At this point, the three-point calibration ends.
3. Measuring pH:
After calibrating the instrument, the pH value of the measured solution can be measured. For the precision measurement method, it is best to keep the temperature of the measured solution consistent with the temperature of the calibration solution.
1. Rinse the electrode (and temperature sensor) with distilled water and blot dry with filter paper.
2. Immerse the electrode (and temperature sensor) in the measured solution. If manual temperature compensation is used, adjust the temperature to the temperature of the measured solution.
3. Press the YES key, the pH indicator flashes, indicating that the measurement is in progress; shake the beaker or stir the solution, and when the pH indicator stops flashing, you can read the pH value of the measured solution.
4. When repeating the measurement, press the YES key again until the pH indicator stops flashing, and then read the instrument indication.
Four, measure mV value
1. Press the MODE button to make the instrument in the mV measurement state (the "pH" light of the display goes out, and the "mV" light comes on). ● Connect the required ion-selective electrode, rinse the electrode with distilled water, blot it dry with filter paper, and immerse the electrode in the test solution.
2. Press the YES key, the "AUTO" indicator flashes, indicating that the measurement is in progress, shake the beaker or stir the solution. When the "AUTO" indicator stops flashing, the potential value (± mV) of the ion selective electrode can be read.
3. When repeating the measurement, press the YES key until the "AUTO" indicator stops flashing, and then read the instrument indication.
Note: If you need to dynamically and continuously observe the measurement process and the change of the indication (for example, when doing titration analysis) and you do not want the indication to be locked, you can press the AUTO key to turn off the "AUTO" indicator, the instrument exits the "automatic judgment "End of measurement" state, the end point will not be locked, the instrument is always in the test state.
5. End:
After the measurement, rinse the electrode and put it in the electrode protection solution. Turn off the power.
