Operation and adjustment of closed blade system
1. Install and adjust the ink chamber
Install the ink chamber on the flexo printing machine according to the instructions of the manufacturer of the closed blade system, and make the upper and lower blades lightly contact the anilox roller. In addition, check whether the contact between the upper and lower scrapers and the anilox roller is balanced and consistent. In fact, many problems in the printing process are caused by incorrect ink chamber position or improper installation of sealing strips.
When placing the ink chamber, ensure that it is parallel to the center line of the anilox roller, and its position is centered relative to the two ends of the anilox roller. In this process, be sure to remove the sealing strip and replace the scraper with two stainless steel blades of the same width. After adjusting the position of the ink chamber to the center, the blade can be replaced with a blade of appropriate size.
Next, start the loading mechanism, and if necessary, readjust the base until the ink chamber is parallel to the anilox roller. If the doctor blade or ink chamber touches the anilox roller, the system must be realigned to prevent irreversible damage.
Finally, if the closed blade system uses a pneumatic installation method, also check whether the distance between the blade and the anilox roller is appropriate, otherwise damage may occur when the anilox roller and the blade clamp contact. In addition, if the contact between the doctor blade and the anilox roller is uneven, serious leakage problems may occur.
2. Ink supply and idling
After the ink chamber is adjusted, start the ink pump and start to inject ink into the ink chamber. It must be kept in mind: the running speed of the ink pump cannot be too fast, otherwise it will cause excessive pressurization and leakage. The amount of ink or varnish pressed into the ink chamber only needs to be slightly larger than the amount required for the live part.
Once the ink chamber is filled with ink or varnish, the idling button can be activated. If a metal scraper is used, a loud squeaking noise may be emitted at this time. Some high-quality scrapers or non-metal scrapers can be used. Effectively reduce and reduce this noise.
3. Visual inspection
After the system has been running for a while, carefully check the posture of the system, tubes, and ink pumps. The operation of the system should be stable; the tubes should not be entangled and should not fall under the ink pump; the height of the return tube should not be lower than the surface of the ink or varnish in the barrel. In addition, check the backflow of ink or varnish, and adjust the speed of the circulating pump if necessary.
4. Adjust scraper pressure
First, reduce the pressure of the ink chamber on the anilox roller. This is the first step to adjust the pressure of the doctor blade. It may take a long time to have a strong "ink flow" on the surface of the anilox roller. Next, carefully increase the pressure or slowly turn the pressure regulating handle until the "ink flow" on the surface of the anilox roller disappears. At this time, the blade pressure reaches the optimal state, the so-called "kiss pressure" state, not only the blade The operating performance is the best, and the wear caused is the smallest.
Cleaning of closed blade system
When using a closed blade system, cleaning is a very important part and the most easily overlooked part. The cleaning procedure is roughly as follows.
(1) Turn off the ink pump and let the ink or varnish flow back naturally.
(2) Rinse the closed squeegee system with clean water or special cleaning fluid. Note that the cleaning fluid should not be used repeatedly, otherwise it can only dilute or dilute the ink and varnish, but it cannot be cleaned thoroughly.
(3) Remove the ink chamber and clean it offline to save time and costs.
(4) The anilox roller should also be thoroughly cleaned, otherwise the residual ink or varnish may dry on its surface. Ultrasonic or high-pressure automatic cleaning system can be used for cleaning, which can reduce the damage to the anilox roller. When water-based ink or varnish is used, the effect of cleaning the anilox roller with hot water is also better. If the ink or varnish has dried on the surface of the anilox roller, it can be removed with a soft cloth or a special brush.
