The design of newspaper pages must have a certain degree of beauty based on theoretical requirements. However, does our typesetting person know what the different roles of the title in the layout are? How to design the arrangement of titles to make the layout more beautiful?

First, the role of the title in the layout

The title is the eye of the layout and is a very important language. Second only to the layout design, the role of the title on the layout is at least reflected in the following aspects.

Identification key

A newspaper version generally has 10 to 20 manuscripts, but one of them is light and heavy, often expressed through titles. The titles of important manuscripts must have a large number of columns, large font sizes, and many rows. Many readers are accustomed to browsing the title first, and then selectively reading an article. It is precisely because the title has such a feature as giving the reader a “first impression”. Therefore, it is determined that the title has a marking effect on the layout.

2. Change layout

Newspapers are published every day but no two identical layout styles can be found. In addition to changes in the content and length of the articles, headline changes are an important reason. Even for the same manuscript, changes in headings, changes in the position of inscriptions, and even changes in the number of headings, fonts used, and font sizes can all be changed.

Second, the change of title

The title includes the subject mark, the quotation (also referred to as the eyebrow mark, the shoulder mark), and the subscript. Through different arrangements and combinations, the appearance of the title can be described as ever-changing. Although the headline format changes, it can be divided into the following broad categories.

Change in size

According to the weight of the article, the number of columns in each article title should be appropriately changed. The combination of large, medium and small will not only show what should be highlighted in the layout, but also make it stand out.
2. Changes in the horizontal and vertical

Chinese characters can be either horizontal or vertical, and the corresponding newspaper titles can be properly arranged on the premise of horizontal layout, which can make the layout of the newspaper headlines misunderstood and have a strong sense of rhythm. At the same time, it can also avoid some technical problems, such as problems, problems, problems and so on.

3. Changes in font and font size

For a title that has both a main and a secondary (including brow and subscript) headlines, the main sign must have the largest font size. At the same time, the font size and font of the main and auxiliary labels should also be changed. The layout is dazzling and colorful.

1. Picture

According to the content of the article, the American editor designs a title map composed of a title and various patterns. The title map itself is an art work, and often the picture-by-picture question map will be attractive and influential to readers. The title map sometimes uses a heading over the photo. In particular, the use of photos showing great scenes as the background of the title will have a strong shock effect. Longer reportage, newsletters, features, and essays are suitable for the title method.

Shading

Shading the title can also beautify it. The shades of visible shading make the word Yin or Yang. The lead line printing needs to be made into a zinc plate, and can only be made into two types: deep shading and black shading. If laser photocopying is used, it is possible to make a variety of expressions, such as female characters, positive characters, crocheted characters, yin and yang characters, three-dimensional characters, and pattern characters on the shading. In addition to beautification, heading shading often creates visual strength on the layout (especially when shading is darker). Therefore, when embellishing a heading with shading, one must pay attention to whether the heading should be highlighted. The second is to consider the balance of the layout. It is not possible to have a shading heading piled up, visually overweight, and the other without the shading heading, which floats lightly, so that the entire layout loses its balance.

3. Beautify with lines or lace

Use lines or lace to enclose the entire title; in the case of few headline words, use a line or lace to frame each word; surround the shading with a wire frame and so on.

4. Calligraphy

For some communications with a small number of words and a large number of columns, the title can be embellished with handwritten calligraphy. This method gives the title a bookish feeling. If it is a running book or cursive script, it can also add a sense of mobility.

5. Tint

Giving the title a color makes it more beautiful. Due to limited conditions, lead printing can only be set in red, offset printing can be achieved in color printing, and various colors can be set. The title is naturally colorful.

6. Other arts processing

Can fully use the computer software features, the title word hollow words, shading words, anti-white characters, but also can be properly rotated, tilted, or made of breakage, ripples and other effects.
