Recently, Professor Morishima of a Japanese school developed a technique for making high-strength paper from banana waste.
The banana fiber is very hard. The key to this technology is to treat the banana fiber as a smooth, fine fiber like cotton fiber. The specific method is: peeling off the banana peel, dehydrating it with a press for making sucrose, and then fermenting it. The general opener used for the production of cotton, hemp and other fibers can be used for the manufacture of banana fibers. The banana cloth made in this way feels like hemp and can be used to make food packaging bags.
