The Institute of New Materials and Eyeglass Manufacturing Company in Saarbrucken, Germany, recently announced that they have developed a scratch-resistant nano-surface material.
According to reports, the researchers covered a thin layer of liquid on plexiglass, which contains nanometer gold, silver, palladium and copper molecules. Their proportion is minimal, because one square centimeter can hold 20 to 30 billion molecules. The emulsion is baked on the plastic surface at a relatively low temperature to form a strong protective layer that can be firmly guarded against scratching. With this cover film, researchers plan to use it to prevent a variety of nicks.
